Hello there

besides Soekris boards, that are somewhat overpriced
due to the PCI and pccard slots on them, do any of
you knows any (really) cheap two ethernet ports box
that I can install and run linux on it?

something like Linksys BEFSR11, but that I can install
linux into?

Corel had this, once, the netwinder. a bit pricey, too,
as any hardware feature over-loaded. my need is a
box like the WL11000 but with two ethernets instead of
one, if possible bellow the US$100 barrier

Any pointers besides Soekris, mini-itx and SBCs would
be grateally appreciated

Cheers

If you've quite some time to spend, by a dlink 614+, plug a jtag on it,
compile samsung linux and other tools, try the acx100 driver

Then you'll have a under 100$ machine, with wireless included!

But you need to buy one and to play with jtag...

for JTAG and uClinux I was waiting the results of ppl work
on Dell 1184 that were discussed on this list about a month
or so ago...

I mean, I doubt that the "paper weights" from initial tests
of reflashing Dell's stay that way for so long... or am I
too optimistic? ;-)

Yea. Been waiting for this one. Problem is the Mini-PCI radio cards.
Anybody got a cheap source? I can get 30 odd MW 802.11b cards under $25.
Then there is the antenna issue, etc.

NET4501 (soekris) is basically the PCE WRAP.1B 3E/1PCI, and is $20 more
onsey-twosey ($160 v $180). with a slower CPU.

or the NET4801 which is similar in CPU with a bit richer feature set.

Sounds crazy, but I believe some of the cheap APs selling at the moment have
mini-pci cards internally. Some of these APs are going for crazy prices
after rebate (like $US10).

Dell laptops often have mini-pci slots in them and there are wireless
lan cards to suit. However, be warned, many of them are Broadcom based.

The dell truemobile wlan 1150 card is an agera/orinoco, runs airsnort
and kismet nicely, so I'm told :-)
I picked my wlan card up for less than US$60.

I think you should have a look on this board:

I'll buy one if I can find a resseller in Europe...
