It seems that Linksys has released a complete toolchain for their APs,
can someone tries to make a custom kernel and firmware?

Rob Flickinger over on the NoCat list was working on Linux for the WRT54g.

I don't know that status of the project, but the problem was that the
sources did not include the drivers for the Broadcom chips. Broadcom
seems (or seemed at the time) most unwilling...

Anyway, better to check with those folks.
